To show people how much of a sacrifice making your dreams come true can be.
2. Does the author accomplish his/her purpose?
Yes, the author describes the hardships that Gabby had to face to make her dream real.
3. What ideas do you agree with?
The author, Charlene Prince Birkeland, quotes Gabby's mother when Gabby was homesick and considering quitting gymnastics. She said, "Life is not easy. You have to fight and refuse to quit."
4. What ideas do you disagree with?
I really love the inspiration of the whole article, and have nothing to disagree on.
5. What do you not understand?
I do not understand how she lived 3,000 miles away from her family, lived with a new family, learned everything in two years training, and won the all-around woman's gymnastic final in this years Olympics!
6. What Connections can you make with text?
On a lower scale, sometimes the going gets tough in life, and especially in sports. Even though you might doubt yourself, its important to never give up.
7. How can I become a more active participant in my learning? How can I take responsibility for my learning?
By paying attention to everything I am taught by teacher, parents, and any other authority will help me become more knowledgeable and responsible.
